Over the last few months, Ottawa Makeover Project have worked with Nikki along each step of her journey. We’ve come to know her and care about her and so, when it was time for the big reveal, we could barely contain our pride and excitement.
It all happened so quickly but we’re grateful to our friends at CTV Morning Live here in Ottawa for having us. http://ottawa.ctvnews.ca/video?clipId=623934
And to Howard Sandler Photography for capturing Nikki’s after pictures and pictures of (most of) the Ottawa Makeover Project Partner team:
And by the way, applications for the 2015/2016 edition of the Ottawa Makeover Project are now being accepted.

We are all so busy in our day-to-day lives, with family, work, aging parents…it’s hard to carve out time to take care of the most important person…YOURSELF! In a seemingly short time, you feel like you need help from so many professionals you just don’t know where to turn. While the internet brings retail and healthcare to your desktop, it becomes increasingly important to highlight the amazing small businesses that exist right here in Ottawa. The Ottawa Makeover Project does just that, bringing together local professionals as a team to help one Ottawa-area resident work towards being healthier in every way. THIS is why I founded the Ottawa Makeover Project… Why WOULDN’T I want to be involved?
Through the application process, I have been so fortunate to meet many fantastic people living in our city. I met people who were married, divorced, or widowed; ill, formerly ill, and healthy; financially stable and well-employed and not. All of these people shared a common goal…achieving a better version of themselves with assistance from professionals.
You may think that the person that benefits most from giving is the one who receives, but I will tell you that is not true. It feels SO GOOD to give. I love what I do for a living, I love to improve lives through improving smiles, and to be able to donate that to someone feels fantastic! But it’s even more rewarding to watch the changes happening in our participants as they travel through their journey.
This year, my greatest hope for Nikki (our 2014-15 Participant) is that she continue along in this journey towards self-discovery and wellness. I’m hoping she sees that even when life throws you curveballs with your health, your family, your work…that you have to still make time to keep yourself healthy and happy so you can best support the loved ones surrounding you. The point of the Ottawa Makeover Project is a jumpstart towards whole-life health, and I am so proud to have taken part. I am even more excited to see who we can help next year!
